Update: Xiaxue has clarified that they are separated, but not yet divorced.

After 17 years together, 13 of which they were married, Xiaxue and Mike Sayre are no longer together.

The 38-year-old influencer, whose real name is Wendy Cheng, announced the end of their marriage on Instagram on Apr. 5, 2023.

“This announcement may come as a surprise to many of you, but we have actually been separated for a long time now,” she wrote.

She added that things ended “mutually and amicably,” but did not delve into the reasons behind the divorce.

It was a decision that took them a long time to arrive at, she continued, and one that was not easy to make.

Calling it a “good run with loads of love, happiness, and memories,” Xiaxue said that their focus is now on co-parenting their son, Dash, as well as supporting each other as they move forward separately.

“To my ex-husband, my partner in crime all these years and the father of my child, I wish you nothing but happiness for your future. Despite things ending this way, I never regretted picking you.”

Xiaxue ended the note by apologising to her followers for the end of her love story, and asked for privacy on the matter.

“Separation is difficult, but it’s so much worse when you have to tell it to so many people—about a decision that technically has nothing to do with them.”

How they met

Mike first encountered Xiaxue in 2005 when he came across her blog.

Their online chats culminated in 2006 when Mike, an American, flew over to Singapore to meet Xiaxue, who was 21 then.

After a bout of LDR, Mike graduated and relocated to Singapore to live and work.

The two married in 2010, and have a 10-year-old son together.
