The fan meeting was slated to be held on Feb. 11.
Fans expressed their disappointment via the comment sections, with many pointing out the steep ticket prices and insinuating that the couple were trying to capitalise on their relationship.
Upon getting feedback from the fans, Yoong-jae and Seo-eun promptly apologised and explained why a ticket costs ₩77,000.
They said that they only agreed to receive a token sum while the rest of the cost would go into paying for other things like venue rental fees and labour costs to organise the event.
Scraps event
In a quick u-turn, Yoong-jae and Seo-eun have both deleted posts pertaining to the fan meeting and issued another joint statement on Jan. 19.
In the joint statement, they said that they have reflected a lot after reading all the concerns and complaints that their fans have left in the comments section.
They explained that they were excited to receive an offer from the organiser, Union Pictures, to hold a fan meeting after seeing many Single’s Inferno 2 viewers expressing their interest and support in the couple.
However, they realised that there were some misjudgements when planning the fan meeting, which resulted in the fans being disappointed in them. As a result, the couple also blamed themselves.
They stressed that they wanted to have the fan meeting to express gratitude to their supporters.
Hence, the couple decided to organise a new fan meeting without any external help from Union Pictures or any other agencies.
Out of their own pockets
According to the post, the new fan meeting will still happen on the same date and time, on Feb. 11.
More details on the event will be released at a later date.
Yoong-jae and Seo-eun will bear the costs of the fan meeting themselves and they said that fans will be able to come and interact with them comfortably.
They added that there will be styling tips, a question-and-answer session, surprise events and gifts during the fan meeting.
They will also be holding an Instagram Live session for those who can’t make it physically that day.
The statement ended with another apology:
“Once again, we apologise for causing concerns regardless of reasons. We hope that our sincerity can be felt even just a little bit, and we hope to meet you in person, interact, and spend time together with the people who have supported us. We will take this as an opprtunity to show you a better image [of us]. Thank you.”
Awwwww.
