‘F*ck my hotel is haunted’: Webtoon artist’s ghostly experience at ‘really cheap’ S’pore hotel

Terrifying.

We’re not starting a cult but some followers on Instagram would be nice. Thank you.

Are you a fan of lift selfies?

You might think twice about whipping out your mobile phone to snap that OOTD after hearing about this supernatural experience a webtoon artist had at a hotel in Singapore.

Twitter user Liyana (@Liyanya_) was in Singapore on May 6 and 7 as a participant at the Doujin Market, a pop culture-inspired arts and illustration event.

The event was held at Suntec Convention Hall.

Her roommate, a fellow artist, had left something in the hotel room, and Liyana had gone back to get it alone.

After retrieving the item and entering the lift, she decided to take a selfie.

Liyana had a rude shock when she saw a group of people with her via her phone camera, despite being alone in the lift.

She immediately put away her phone and tried not to draw attention, but despite remaining calm, Liyana said that she was “holding back tears” and “visibly shaking”.

While she did not name the hotel that she was staying at, Liyana said that it was “really cheap”.

She also had to return to the hotel as she could not afford to stay elsewhere.

Liyana’s brother, a doctor, chalked it up to exhaustion, but she insists: “I know what I saw… it’s up to you guys if you wanna believe me or not”.

If you saw something, you didn’t

Several Twitter users expressed concern for her situation, and offered some helpful advice as well.

DAX, for example, is a true believer in the saying: “ignorance is bliss”.

This echoes another tweet that went viral earlier this year about the importance of minding your own business when it comes to “unexplained noises”, which triggered a flurry of responses about all the spooky things Southeast Asians pretend not to see or hear.

Meanwhile, the question on everyone’s minds right now:
