A whole-ass mood.

We’re not starting a cult but some followers on Instagram would be nice. Thank you.

The Queen of all Asians everywhere, Michelle Yeoh, has won a Golden Globe for Best Actress for her role in Everything Everywhere All At Once.

In other words, A Very Big Deal.

And one that for Michelle, has been decades in the making.

“I’m just going to stand here and take this all in. 40 years… I’m not letting go of this,” she says to an adoring floor of industry peers.

She then briefly talks about her experiences in Hollywood and how opportunities have dried up as she got older.

“When I first came to Hollywood, it was a dream come true… until I got here. I came here and was told, ‘You’re a minority.'”

Interrupted midway through her speech

Just as she begins to talk about how Everything Everywhere All At Once has been a “gift”, music started to play, indicating that the producers were trying to get her to cut her speech shot.

“Shut up,” our Queen says, “I can beat you up, okay. And that’s serious.”

The audience laughs and laps it up.

She graciously goes on to bestow thanks on entertainment company A24 for putting their trust in the Daniels (directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), who had the “courage to write about a very ordinary immigrant, ageing woman, mother, daughter.”

“I was given this gift of playing this woman who resonated so deeply with me and with so many people because, at the end of the day, in whatever universe she was at, she was just fighting. Fighting for love, for her family.”

Michelle also thanks co-stars Stephanie Hsu, Jamie Lee Curtis and Ke Huy Quan, as well as her producer and managers.

And lastly, to those who paved the way for her success.

“This is also for all the shoulders that I stand on, all who came before me, who look like me, and all who are going on this journey with me forward.”
