He spent 32 weeks in there.

We’re not starting a cult but some followers on Instagram would be nice. Thank you.

Darryl Ian Koshy, better known as Dee Kosh, has been released from prison.

The local YouTuber and former radio DJ served a 32-week sentence (about eight months) for sexual offences involving teenage boys.

He pleaded guilty to:

  • One count of sexual exploitation of a boy under the age of 18
  • One count of offering money to a boy below 18 for sexual services
  • One count of making an obscene film

Four other charges were taken into consideration in sentencing.

Fresh out of prison, the 34-year-old revived his presence on social media with a series of Instagram Stories, saying in one of them, “Okay. Let’s address the giant elephant in the room.”

“So, Covid no more already is it? Or, still have? Cause in jail we still wear mask you know. I don’t know out here no need. So means no Co- not sure.”

Lifestyle changes

A couple of days later, Darryl briefly updates his followers on his time in prison, after putting out a Q&A for them to submit their burning questions.

The YouTuber said that he would get to the serious topics eventually, and chose to start with the “light stuff” first.

He largely addressed his weight loss in the video, revealing that he dropped from 115kg to 95kg.

“But what was tough though, is maintaining the weight. You know, when you come out, food is oilier, there’s more to eat, […] the things are sweeter, it’s not as clean as the food inside. Yes, I said it, okay. Jail food is very clean.”

So he’s been cooking his own meals whenever he can, in addition to cutting out carbs.

The craziest part, Darryl added, is that he’s also started running as a form of exercise.

Between cooking and running, he’s apparently found more time for himself and less time for social media, contrary to what his content might indicate.

“Before I went in, I was so dependent on social media—dependent on my phone and like what’s going on, who said what, what news is out. Being away from that for so many months, I realised that there was so much me time that I missed out on and me time is so important.”

The YouTuber went on to say that he’s now stuck at 94kg, and asked for help in losing more to hit his goal of 90kg.

And whether you want it or not, you’ll be seeing more of Darryl as he’ll continue to update everyone on his life before getting to the “heavy stuff”.

Second chance?

People on the internet, it seems, are generally quite forgiving towards Darryl.

Well, generally.
